When I decided to take an extended break from blogging, I stopped reviewing anything I read completely. YIKES!
So, to play some catch up, I decided I will be posting “mini reviews” of all the books I have read in the past couple of months while I ease back into blogging!
Since it is summer break and I am easing back in, my mini review week is continuing because I make the rules! LOL!
In previous posts, I posted about Me Before You (Jojo Moyes), No One Is Coming to Save Us (Stephanie Powell Watts) and All We Ever Wanted (Emily Giffin). You can check those reviews out HERE! I also discussed The Innocent Wife (Amy Llyod), The Three (Sarah Lotz), and The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini). You can check out those reviews HERE.
So, here we go!
The Devil Wears Prada
Author: Lauren Weisberger
Genre: Women’s Fiction/Chick Lit
Thoughts: This one was a re-read for me. I had read it back in University and remembered disliking it and not being able to finish it completely. However, I decided to give it another shot after stumbling across the movie version on Netflix. I am happy to report that I was able to make it through much easier this time around! I did still find that parts were repetitive but maybe because I am older now with some “horrible boss” experience that I found this one to be more relatable.
A light, enjoyable read with some laugh out loud moments. Worth the read.
Find You in the Dark
Author: Nathan Ripley
Genre: Mystery/Thriller
Thoughts: The synopsis of this one HOOKED me. I was obsessed with the concept. I pretty much dropped everything to read this book. However, I was really disappointed! The characters fell flat, the story dragged on and I ended up taking FOREVER to finish.
I would skip it.
All the Beautiful Lies
Author: Peter Swanson
Genre: Mystery/Thriller
Thoughts: I love Peter Swanson. I love his writing style, his narrative voice and they way he builds a slow burn. I have never been disappointed while reading a Swanson novel. All the Beautiful Lies was no exception. I binge read this book in an afternoon and have recommended it to countless people (and they have all loved it too!!)
A MUST read!
Oh no! I’d heard great things about Find You in the Dark and have added it to my TBR, shame you didn’t enjoy it!!
