When I decided to take an extended break from blogging, I stopped reviewing anything I read completely. YIKES!
So, to play some catch up, I decided I will be posting “mini reviews” of all the books I have read in the past couple of months while I ease back into blogging!
Yesterday, I posted about Me Before You (Jojo Moyes), No One Is Coming to Save Us (Stephanie Powell Watts) and All We Ever Wanted (Emily Giffin). You can check those reviews out HERE!
So, here we go!
The Innocent Wife
Author: Amy Lloyd
Thoughts: This one was an incredibly fast read and I was HOOKED right from the first pages. This one sort of gave me Making a Murderer vibes which I really loved. I totally understand why my blogging buddies raved about this one so much when it was first released. It really does live up to the hype.
Author: Sarah Lotz
Genre: Horror/Mystery/Science Fiction
Thoughts: I read The White Road by Sarah Lotz last year and was OBSESSED. So, because I am a book hoarder, I bought all of her other books and vowed to read them all. I started with The Three, an apocalyptic style novel that had elements of horror, mystery and science fiction. It is written like diary entires and news reports which took me a while to get into and, truthfully, this book took me a LONG time to finish. Did I hate it? No. Did I love it? No. Will I read the next book? Maybe, but I am in no rush.
Worth a casual read at your leisure. No need to rush.
The Kite Runner
Author: Khaled Hosseini
Genre: Historical Fiction
Thoughts: This book was kind of cheating since technically I taught this novel to my college level English students. This was my first time reading this book (surprisingly) and I read it along with my class. Let me tell you, this one had me HOOKED! My class loved it, I loved it and I am so upset with myself that I hadn’t read this novel earlier!
