Bookish Resolutions: 2018

Screen Shot 2017-01-04 at 5.43.21 PMThere is nothing I enjoy more than the beginning of a new year!  I am a person who thrives on lists and agendas so, I love the idea of a fresh start and the opportunity to make some lists and to set up and achieve some goals…especially when they are the bookish kind!

I’ve thought a lot about what types of bookish goals I want to accomplish this year.  Some are general and some are incredibly specific.  So, without further ado, let’s see what my reading goals for 2018 are:

Blogging Banner 3

GOAL #1:  Get Back Into the Swing of Things

The beginning of 2017 I dove into the book world head first.  I was reading 30 plus books a month, sharing posts from my fellow bloggers and making sure I was posting each day.  I was incredibly pleased with my blogging progress and how many books I was reading….until September came.  Once school started, things started to feel a little hectic and, by the time I got married, moved into our apartment and started preparing for the holiday craziness, I was completely off the blogging bandwagon.

I know that this is normal and that I had some pretty incredible changes happening in my life but I really MISSED blogging and being able to talk books with everyone.

So, my goal for 2018 is to get back on track with posting, sharing and reading other blogs.

GOAL #2: Read More Classics

I really want to try and incorporate more of the classics into my TBR pile and have decided that I am going to try and read at least one every month for 2018.

In University, I majored in English Literature so I did read many classics; however, to try and save myself extra work, I often found myself taking classes within the same era or in the same genre so I feel like I have missed huge chunks.

Hopefully, this goal will help me catch up on some of the books that I am embarrassed to say I haven’t read.

GOAL #3: Popsugar Reading Challenge

Chelsea (from The Suspense is Thrilling Me) and I have decided to take on the Popsugar Reading Challenge for 2018 and are encouraging our fellow Suspensful Clues and Thrilling Reviews Book Club members (if you aren’t a member, you can find us on Goodreads HERE) to take on the challenge with us!

I am really excited to do this challenge and have worked TONS of books on my ever-growing TBR pile into the challenge to try and give some of my forgotten books some love!

I have a post coming tomorrow featuring the challenge and all my picks so stay posted for that!

Well, that just about sums up the few bookish goals that I have been planning for 2018.     Do you have any bookish goals that you are working on for the new year?  If so, I’d love to hear them!!

  1. Happy New Year! I think I’m going to focus on getting my NetGalley reviewer % back up, engage more in the online book community, and think more about how I can organize my blog posts. I’m having a hard time coming up with content other than book reviews. That’s a lot to work on in itself, but not completely unreasonable.

  2. So glad you’re getting back in the blogging swing of things! Congrats on your marriage and new apartment! I’m also going to give the PopSugar reading challenge a try but being a mood reader it’s hard for me to pick too many books ahead of time

  3. i’ve been reading soooo many TBR lists and bookish goals and suprised I haven’t written my own blog post yet. I’ve refrained. Maybe I’ll squeeze one in tonight before the first month of the year is over. I want to read more classics too! it would be interesting to read what are your favorite classics? which ones did you love when you were in college? 🙂
