Ever wonder about the person behind the blog? I mentioned back in January (here) that I would be starting a Meet the Blogger series. This series will feature some of my favourite bloggers as we go behind the scenes and have them answer the questions!
Next up is Sharon from Chapter In My Life!
Thrilled to have Sharon on my blog today! Sharon is from Scotland and reviews a lot of Scottish crime fiction; I always come across books I have never even heard of when I read Sharon’s blog!
Keep reading to see what Sharon had to say during her turn in the “hot seat”
Why did you decide to join the world of book blogging?
I had been reviewing on the quiet for a while on Amazon but was too shy to share my reviews! I then joined The Book Club on Facebook and started sharing reviews on Goodreads. I had set up my own blog in 2014 but didn’t dream of putting anything on it never mind sharing it with the outside world! As I began to connect with more authors and followed other bloggers I eventually plucked up the courage in early 2015 to put it out there for public viewing! This was quickly followed by my Facebook blog page and linking my blog to Twitter! Compared to others though, I’m still a baby blogger and learning more every day!
What have been your favourite and least favourite parts of being a book blogger?
My favourite – Ohhh the fame and fortune obviously! Hehe! (Just kidding!) The best thing(s) for me about blogging are: the absolute buzz I get from sharing a review and hearing that someone else is going to read the book because they enjoyed my review; the hyperventilating, fangirling moments when an author contacts me to thank me for my review and shares it on social media; being able to give something back to authors for the hours (and I mean HOURS) of enjoyment they give me by writing their books and the fact that it has opened up a whole world of people just like me – I have made so many new friends through doing this, both online and in person and the support of other folk who have the same passion for books and reading is outstanding! It’s a whole new world….oh is that a song! Oh did you know I can waffle on for hours if you let me!
Least favourite- still has to be having to turn down requests to review books when I am busy – I just want to do them all for everyone!
What have been your 3 favourite books to review since you started book blogging?
Oh fiddlesticks – only 3 – you are cruel! OK here goes:
- Bloq by Alan Jones as that was my first ever Blog Tour and I was beyond nervous about doing it and was so chuffed when he had emailed me and asked me to do it!
- A Suitable Lie – by Michael J Malone – because that book was the book last year that I was nagging everyone to buy! It got under my skin and has stayed there!
- Open Wounds by Douglas Skelton – because that man made me greet! Douglas do you here that – you made me GREET!
Have you always been a reader? If not, what got you into reading?
Yes ever since I could read and probably before; my dad instilled the love of reading for me and it is the one activity that I cannot imagine never doing!
Now the impossible question…what are some of your favourite books?
Like which is my favourite child….seriously! You are bad! But at least you haven’t restricted me this time! OK here goes:
Steven Dunne – The Reaper series – buy these books! I mean BUY them now!!!
Owen Mullen – Charlie Cameron PI Series – top Scottish crime fiction – will literally pull you onto the streets of Glasgow as soon as you open the pages!
Alan Jones – Blue Wicked – it will have you reeling! Brilliant Scottish crime fiction!
Lin Anderson – Dr Rhona MacLeod series – the queen of Tartan Noir and my ultimate, all time favourite female Scottish author!
Sarah Hilary – Marnie Rome series – brilliant, feisty, twisted, psychological thriller series that you do not want to miss!
Su Bistow – Sealskin – it will capture your heart and soul
