February 2017: #Wrap Up and Update

screen-shot-2017-01-04-at-5-43-21-pm

February is typically my least favourite month of the year; it always seems to go by too slowly. Luckily for me, I had a whole bunch of books this month to keep me busy! This month, I was able to read 28 books.

Keep reading to check out what I read this month (and which reads I gave a 5-star rating!) and an update on my reading challenges!

WHAT I READ:

 #CJSREADS2017 PICKS:

#cjsreads was busy this month!  We read TEN books as a buddy read.  We also put together a “thrilling” March photo challenge on Instagram!  So that’s fun!

Distress Signals by Catherine Ryan Howard

Presidents Day by Seth Margolis

Every Dark Corner by Karen Rose

I See You by Clare Mackintosh (we all gave this one 5 stars!)

The Girl in the Red Coat by Kate Hamer

Doll House by John Hunt

The Book of Mirrors by E.O Chirovici

Bad Little Girl by Frances Vick

Blink by K.L Slater (we all gave this one 5 stars!)

The Housekeeper by Suellen Dainty

UPCOMING BOOKS:

I also had the chance to read some books that are coming out in the next few months!

The Missing Ones by Patricia Gibney (March 2017) – review (and author Q&A) coming soon as part of blog tour

Feral by James Demonaco (April 2017)- review coming soon!

A Presence of Absence by Sarah Surgey and Emma Vestrheim- review coming soon as part of the blog tour in March!

 BOOKS TO ENJOY NOW:

I love getting advanced review copies but it’s not fun to read only books that are upcoming- then I have no one to discuss them with!  So, as always, I was sure to read a few neglected books that have been on my TBR shelf and get some books from my local library that were previously released!

Ink and Bone by Lisa Unger

The Barataria Key by J.M Richardson

Marked for Revenge by Emelie Schepp (OUT TODAY!)

Everything You Want Me To Be by Mindy Mejia

Isolation Junction by Jennifer Gilmour

Humans Bow Down by James Patterson

Method 15/33 by Shannon Kirk

Silent Child by Sarah Denzil

The Doll Funeral by Kate Hamer

Medea’s Curse by Anne Buist

What I Never Told You by Louise Mullins

A Necessary Act by Tony Wit

Stasi Wolf by David Young

The Nightwalker by Sebastian Fitzek

The Possessions by Sara Flannery Murphy

Seed by Ania Ahlborn

Deep Down Dead by Steph Broadribb

Updates:

I have been plugging away at my challenges.  I am 30% complete in my Goodreads challenge of 200 books!  I have read 60 so far this year!

I also was able to reach 80% on Netgalley this month; so I am coming along quite swimmingly with my Netgalley/Edelweiss Challenge.

I am struggling with my Beat the Backlist challenge;  I am not reading nearly as many of my own books as I would like.  I am going to work on making this more of a priority in the upcoming months!

Well, there ya have it!  My wrap up for this past month and some general updates!   Have you read any of these?  Maybe they are on your TBR list?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

And, as always, Happy Reading!

  1. Whaaaaat?! That’s insane (and impressive)! I’m really curious to know how you manage that. I’ve only read 15 so far in the whole year. Thanks for the update, it looks live you’ve read some really interesting books.

  2. How do you mange a book a day – do you read from morning till night. So impressed. Some great books though. Also love how your nail polishes change. I keep seeing colours I want to get my hands on!

    1. I wish I could! I totally would if I didn’t have to work! I’m lucky that I have always been a considerably fast reader and my fiance has been back in school this month for work so I’ve had lots of time to myself for reading! I am dedicated to my manicures; look out for some spring colours! lol

  3. wow, as everyone else has commented, 28 books is pretty impressive. That’s a book a day for the month. Glad to see that many of them were great reads. We read a few similar ones and thanks to you, I am planning on reading The Girl in the Red Coat and Distress Signals sometime soon. I also can’t wait to read The Missing Ones. I look forward to your review/tour post.

Happy reading and enjoy the new month.

  4. Your yearly goal on Goodreads is so inspirational. Mine is twenty books and I still haven’t reached that, so you’ve beaten my goal three times over! I’d love to be able to read as fast as you are able to!

      1. That makes sense! I speed read some things (mainly college textbooks, let’s be honest), but I like to take my time when it comes to novels. 🙂
