Hey everyone! Coming at you today with some exciting news that will be unfolding at Clues and Reviews over the next year.
Since starting my blog in September, I have come into contact some of the most amazing people. And the best part? They all want to talk about books. One of the best places to do this- besides my blog- is on Instagram (aka Bookstagram). I’ve teamed up with a couple other Bookstagrammers to host monthly buddy reads and promote some of the books that we are loving. Feel like following along? Check out the hashtag #cjsreads2017.
Want to read along with us? PLEASE DO! We will have a nice collection of books going each month (new releases, previous releases, and some upcoming releases too!) so feel free to pick up and join us- book blogger or not!
This month we are reading:
THE DRY by JANE HARPER
Description from Goodreads:
Luke Hadler turns a gun on his wife and child, then himself. The farming community of Kiewarra is facing life and death choices daily. If one of their own broke under the strain, well…
When Federal Police investigator Aaron Falk returns to Kiewarra for the funerals, he is loath to confront the people who rejected him twenty years earlier. But when his investigative skills are called on, the facts of the Hadler case start to make him doubt this murder-suicide charge.
And as Falk probes deeper into the killings, old wounds start bleeding into fresh ones. For Falk and his childhood friend Luke shared a secret… A secret Falk thought long-buried… A secret which Luke’s death starts to bring to the surface…
SLEIGHT by SLOANE KADY
Description from Goodreads:
How is love measured? By how much you’re willing to bleed for another person? Do they show you one of those pain-rating scales and ask how much your relationship hurts? Point to the most anguished face and win a prize. Congratulations!
You must truly be loved. At what point is it more humane to just rip each other’s hearts out instead of cutting each other open with sharp words and lies?
If love is measured in scars and sacrifices, I win. “Your dad’s been in an accident, Bryce.” “You’re all he has, Bryce.” “Do the right thing, Bryce.” And I do, because I’m reluctantly good, even though my father only knows how to make me bleed.
I leave the bright colors of Seattle for my father’s stagnant world and his decaying mind. He doesn’t want me around, but he needs my memories. I don’t want to be around, but maybe I need closure before the cloaked man takes him away forever, just like my mother and brother. Only thing is, I never learned to be careful what I asked for, and when I tear down the wall separating my father and me and find that everything I knew about him was a façade concealing unimaginable truths, forgiveness will come easy, but rectification might cost me everything.
AND
LITTLE GIRL LOST by CAROL WYER
Description from Goodreads:
A perfect family hiding disturbing secrets. A killer who wants the truth to be told.
A teacher goes missing under suspicious circumstances.
A millionaire is murdered at a local reservoir.
For Detective Robyn Carter, there’s no obvious link between the men. But as she starts to delve into the cases, her investigations lead her to Abigail, perfect wife and mother to beautiful little Izzy. What was Abigail’s connection to the victims? And why is she receiving threatening messages from an anonymous number?
But as Robyn starts to inch closer to finding the killer, Izzy is abducted.
Unless Robyn gets to the twisted individual in time, a little girl will die …
Gripping, fast paced and nailbitingly tense, this serial killer thriller will chill you to the bone. Perfect for fans of MJ Arlidge and Angela Marsons.
